This project was something a little different for me, as it was less about punchy graphics and more about the functionality behind the scenes.
A research team working in the Peruvian jungle came to me with a very specific project outline – they were collecting data regarding the efficacy of plant medicines from research participants at retreats deep in the jungle. With zero internet connectivity, they needed a creative solution within budget.
After discussing a few options we landed on the idea of a fillable .pdf file using the ‘forms’ functions available in Adobe InDesign. This allowed for the entire battery of (approx) 270 questions to be fully expressed in the way they were meant to be.
What’s more, due to diligent work in creating the form fields properly, the completed forms were able to be exported/collated into a single Excel spreadsheet automatically rather than manually transferring the data.
This saved the team a lot of money in time spent doing this. Initial reports show the project to be a success and the team have already secured funding for research into war veterans suffering from PTSD – a project we am proud to be involved with for a number of reasons. we look forward to working with this brilliant team on whatever their path takes them to next.
